Documents were validated for migration of 45M+ records.
The Challenge
Applied Materials faced significant challenges in managing its data infrastructure, primarily due to rising hardware and cloud hosting/backup costs. The company sought a solution allowing employee access to remain unchanged while alleviating the growing financial burden associated with operations and compliance.
Additionally, it experienced strained storage capacity and escalating costs to retain rarely accessed data, which further strained its resources and increased overall expenditures. These issues underscored the urgent need for a more cost-effective and efficient data management strategy that could address both operational and financial concerns while supporting their Azure cloud migration strategy.
The Solution
Applied Materials connected with Auritas, after a long relationship, to implement a comprehensive solution that included configuring Azure Storage in OTAS (on-prem). The team also assisted by setting up GS pool in Archives, extracting data from ISO files to SAN, and migrating ISO Isilon data to Azure cloud. Auritas also assisted with Azure Blob Storage configuration, addressing existing issues, and ensuring OpenText connectivity.
The project involved the successful migration of 9,229 ISO volumes to the cloud, with all 8,006 volumes containing records validated and available in Azure storage. Auritas managed to address issues related to system instability to meet the deliverables and achieve success in the Azure cloud migration of the data.
