LivaNova's Governance Framework Journey
Following the Sorin and Cyberonics merger, inconsistent processes and lack of centralized data caused quality issues and poor analytics. Auritas implemented standardized processes and a centralized data source, improving data accuracy, sales planning, and procurement while reducing user effort.

The Challenge
The recent merger of Sorin and Cyberonics, two prominent companies, posed a significant business challenge. These organizations brought with them two distinct historical processes, which, when combined, created complexities in efficiently governing data.
A notable issue that emerged was the absence of a centralized source for master data, causing ongoing efforts to enhance data quality. Unfortunately, this data quality struggle had a direct impact on the quality of business analytics and insights, hindering the organization's ability to make informed decisions and effectively harness the power of its data resources.
Pain Points:
• Underwent large merger of two big companies (Sorin & Cyberonics).
• Two different historical processes made it difficult to govern data efficiently.
• Lack of Centralized Source for Master Data.
• Constantly working on improving Data Quality due to poor business analytics and insights.
The Solution
To address the complex data governance challenges stemming from the merger, a robust solution was deployed in the form of SAP Master Data Governance (SAP MDG). Initially, a thorough assessment was conducted to pinpoint the specific issues and opportunities for standardization within the organization's data landscape. This assessment served as the foundation for implementing SAP MDG, a comprehensive system designed to streamline data management and enhance data quality.
By introducing SAP MDG, the organization gained the ability to centralize master data, enforce standardized processes, and ensure data integrity across disparate systems. This transformation not only alleviated the historical data governance issues but also paved the way for more accurate business analytics and insights, enabling the organization to harness the full potential of its data assets effectively.
