Bourns' team faced significant challenges in managing enterprise documents stored within SAP DMS. Over time, the accumulation of documents created storage constraints, increasing system load and limiting accessibility. Since SAP DMS restricted document access to SAP users, non-SAP employees across the globe faced difficulties retrieving critical information, impacting collaboration and efficiency.
To enhance accessibility and optimize storage, the team sought a solution that would migrate documents from SAP storage to OpenText Storage while ensuring that non-SAP users could easily access and utilize these documents. Additionally, they needed a structured approach to maintain governance and compliance while reducing operational costs.

To address these challenges, Auritas implemented OpenText Extended ECM (xECM), seamlessly integrating it with SAP DMS for the PLM & PPM modules. This strategic approach allowed Bourns to efficiently migrate and manage their enterprise documents within a centralized and accessible repository. By extending document visibility to non-SAP users, the solution eliminated silos and streamlined collaboration across teams.
Furthermore, the integration enabled metadata enrichment and SAP classification, ensuring documents were organized based on business processes such as CAD Programs. To reinforce governance, the solution also linked documents to relevant Business Objects and placed them under Records Management Control, securing long-term compliance and operational efficiency.
